The Captain Cook Monument was erected by the British on the shore of Kealakekua Bay, to commemorate this site as the place that Captain James Cook initially made landfall in Hawai’i, that also was the place that he perished. The bay itself holds a fascinating history of festivals, gods, and is a sacred place for Hawaiians.

The waters off the Kona Coast, from Keauhou to Kealakekua Bay, enjoy some of the calmest water conditions throughout the day in Hawai’i - protected from stronger easterly winds by Hualalai Mountain. As we head south, Kealakekua Bay’s waters offer some of the best visibility in the entire state and a wealth of tropical reefs to explore. We provide guidance, snorkel gear, flotation devices, and also have a high dive and two 15 foot water slides so that you can enjoy this fantastic site to its max for the afternoon! The cruise lasts for 3-½ hours after departing from Keauhou Bay, including 1-½ hours to snorkel in Kealakekua Bay.

The Kona Coast Snorkel Tour includes two unique snorkel destinations (generally Pali Kaholo, Red Hill, and often Kealakekua Bay), standup paddleboards, snorkel gear, and orientation. Guests are served a light, plant-based tropical breakfast with a fresh island fruit bowl, traditional muesli, homemade banana bread, herbal tea, and 100% Kona Coffee grown on the Fair Wind family farm. Our island-inspired, plant-based lunch features a savory BBQ Jackfruit & coleslaw sandwich (pulled pork style) and tasty chickpea sandwich (tuna salad style). Sides include Ulu (breadfruit) & purple sweet potato salad and a mixed green salad with an array of homemade dressings. To top things off, enjoy a fresh cookie dessert before heading back out for more beautiful snorkeling. Additional options available for purchase include Sea Rocket tours, and a cash bar.
